HER-  I am not your expectations

What was your first impression of me? Did you assume that I’m more introverted in nature? Was it because of the way I hide my head of hair? Was it my soft demeanour? Or would you have taken me as the bold type from my daring attitude? In reality, I can be both. Or I could be neither. Though, this isn’t determined by my Hijab, but by me. I express myself in the way I dress, ones that may raise eyebrows as people believe it contradicts the accessory on my head. I can be daring and courageous, or minimalist and soft. It is not my responsibility to meet the expectations you’ve been conditioned to impose on me. I will continue on my stride. I am her, in every form I choose to be.
